World's Biggest Problems

Hello Everyone! Today I am making a list of the World's Top 10 Problems and what I think might be plausible solutions to those problems.

It is hard to place any epidemic over another, so these are in no particular order.

#1 - Terrorism

Terrorism is probably the largest issue in the world as of right now. With the rise of Islamic terror groups like ISIS, countries worldwide are trying their hardest to defend their borders and protect their citizens from terrorism. Citizens and refugees in middle eastern countries are living in constant fear for their lives as every day could be their last. Asking me to come up with a practical and implementable solution for terrorism is nearly impossible because it is difficult to control the minds and actions of millions of terrorists. The only preventative measures are to control who has control of weapons of mass destruction and to stop supporting dictatorships around the world.

#2 - Religious Discrimination Increasing

Due to the rise in terrorism, there is also a rise in religious discrimination specifically towards people of the Muslim/Islamic religion. Several areas are refusing to accept Syrian refugees in defense of their citizens. If this continues to be a problem, the world may eventually revert to segregation either by race or religion. When combining this issue with terrorism, there really isn't anything that can be done to prevent this. When people are associated with terror groups, humans are going to make the assumption that they have terror potential as well. Countries could implement a stricter but fair screening process to gain temporary monitored access, as has been done for years.

#3 - Corrupt Government Officials

Behind almost every problem on this list, lies a government official that is putting forth no effort to resolve the problem. The concept of government was to allow everyone to have a say in the progress of their countries. However, out of instilled fear, dictatorships still exist and terrible world leaders are being inaugurated out of absolute terror. As far as the United States is concerned, we just have to do a better job when electing our leader, but for other countries, they need to stand up for themselves and form a united front rather than cowering in fear.

#4 - Poverty

Nearly 3 billion people live on less than $2.50 per day (912 dollars per year). 600 million of those are children living in extreme poverty conditions. Poverty is an issue that will always exist, but can hopefully be minimized. The best way to minimize this would be to decrease profit margins for companies and enforce a legal limit on the minimum amount of employees that companies must have annually.

#5 - Heart Disease

Heart Disease is the #1 worldwide cause of death. This terrible disease has killed 7.4 million people as of 2012. Even the procedures for curing this disease have deathly risks involved. The way to cut down on this fatal disease is to cut down on the causes of it, such as smoking. If smoking rates continue to decrease, I feel like heart disease rates will go down as well.

#6 - War

The existence of war will most likely always be a problem in the world. There will never be anything that everybody agrees on, and major disagreements between nations will always be fought the only way that history has shown them. Much like terrorism, it's very difficult to prevent war. However, by making countries as constitutional as possible, hopefully war rates will go down with time.

#7 - Depleting Oil Sources

Oil is what we use to refine into gasoline for our primary sources of transportation and our household appliances. Oil is a resource that takes millions of years to replenish and is globally known as a fossil fuel. The supply of oil is something that will deplete until it is rationed by governments and it will soon become a good that is only supplied to the elite classes if nothing is done about it. A good way to prevent this would be by funding production of biofuels. Biofuels are renewable resources from organisms such as algae that can provide refine-able oil that can be converted into gasoline and other products. 

#8 - Overpopulation

The Earth is slowly becoming inhabited by more and more people every day. The reason for our depletion of fossil fuels, and fresh water sources is because of overpopulation. The demand is over weighing the supply of many finite resources. Population control isn't something that I support, however if you want a solution to this problem, a limitation would have to be forced on the number of kids an individual can produce as well as making birth control mandatory. Like I said, I don't support a lot of these solutions, but that's the only feasible way.

#9 - Hunger

A combination of poverty and overpopulation, Hunger is another huge problem in the world. There are millions of adults and children going hungry every day due to poverty or lack of resources. If I knew how to put an end to world hunger, I would be able to pay for everyone's meals for a lifetime. This can only be resolved slowly by controlling population and increasing the income rate for families worldwide. 

#10 - Extreme Climate Changes

Our world is becoming increasingly unpredictable as far as the climate is concerned. This year, we had one of the worst El Nino events in history. In the United States, places that are typically in drought have been flooding from torrential downpours. The only somewhat resolution to this is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by again switching to biofuels and banning all resources that produce greenhouse gases. This is nearly impossible since greenhouse gases are naturally produced animals like cattle, however putting bans on certain consumer items would reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

I don't support these solutions, however sometimes the only plausible solutions can't be supported. If there were plausible and morally correct solutions, I wouldn't be writing a list of the world's top 10 problems.
